Rob--I read your initial post early on, and clearly saw (and agreed with) your point. I did not see many of the follow ups from the PC police until I read the whole thread this AM. Just wanted to let you know I got it, and thanks for all your well-thought posts.

BTW, have you seen "Westway to the World", the Clash documentary? Just watched it with my 15 year old son, and we both really enjoyed it. Damn, could this world use a little Strummer right about now, or what?

Thanks for your comments. I appreciate them. Yes I have seen Westway to the World - and very entertaining it is too. It would be good if Joe was still around and looking for something to rebel against. I guess he'd have plenty to choose from.

Indeed he would...

One more thing unrelated to this thread (hijack, again!)--did you happen to catch the 40th Anniversary of Fairport Convention at the Cropredy Fest? I was checking it out on RT's website and it looked like fun. Apparantly they did Leige and Leif in it's entirety.

I wish! I was in Paris that weekend (birthday trip for She Who Must Be Obeyed). There was plenty of good eating and drinking so I won't complain too much. Do you know if there are any Cropredy boots circulating?

I haven't a clue about Cropredy recordings. I've never seen any, but I'm not very well connected in the taping/trading community. I do know that a number of RT recordings are around, but I am unaware of how to find them. Bluedevil may be able to help on this, however. My lone RT unofficial recording is RT Band at Strawberry Music Festival in May '03.

sugarmegs has a bunch of RT and Croperdy. I was actually reading the RT book that comes with latest RT 5 (6 if you write in) box set, and they discuss the official Croperdy releases. Free Reed records would have that info - http://www.free-reed.co.uk/

As far as trading out there, some of the usual suspect sites may have it. With RT, over 80% of my stuff is through his official site and/or releases; only have a handful of "boots".

I do remain amazed that RT just seems to keep getting better while many others with that many years in the game dial it in...

I knew you'd come through. I forgot about the stuff on Free Reed--good call.
My first hijack! Not bad, huh?

Yea, well I'm still at loss to understand why my precious, pure, innocent angel can't seem to play well with one other girl, let alone 2, for more than an hour at a time (max). Perhaps JOTS can provide parental guidance re same. Anyway, it's a different story with the boys - she'll hang and roughouse with hours with the boys.

And I've sung end of the rainbow to her on more than one occasion = http://www.myspace.com/richardandlindathompson

Why yes bluedevil my friend, I would be more than happy to enlighten you.

First you must understand that children are perfect innocent little angels that are immune to the evils that you and I induce into their innocent perfect world. Thusly, if anything less than finger painted picture perfect should happen to occur, it is clearly indicative of some sort of flaw on your part that you have willingly or unwittingly caused, thusly are directly responsible for.

On a serious note: I sure hope you weren't REALLY asking ME for advice. I love my kids more than I can express. I'd do anything for them. But like most parents, I just do my best and wing it. I'd be great if we could get our daughters together to play and see if they got along. My daughter seems to play well with some girls and not so well with others AND can also get right in there with the boys, but she also unfortunately can get me to bang my head on the wall in frustration. She's one of those types that can be her own worst enemy when she loses control. Very smart, but sometimes a bit of a defeatist I'm sorry to say. Don't get me wrong, she has a ton of great qualities that I remind her of all the time, she just tends to take the path of most resistance.

Oh, and did I mention she NEVER smiled as a baby, started talking where we could actually have conversations before she was one, AND hasn't stopped talking nine years later. I'm serious. She NEVER stops talking. I don't care what anyone says, if you can listen to anyone talk 24/7 without having a nervious breakdown, then that MUST be love right?

well, you met me and my kid - you know she didn't have a chance. Nothing a lifetime of theraphy can't help.

And, yes, that is the definition of love. Couldn't resist:

Nothing to worry about, I already attributed how wonderful your daughter is to your wife : )

I would just like to add that Dad's could use some of Mother's little helper too
